Rawhide Co. was born in the charming small town of Somerville, NJ – an hour west of Manhattan. Founded by partners Billy and Nicole in 2024, backed by a combined thirty years of design and remote work experience, and inspired by our dream of creating something uniquely effective to inspire remote workers and on-the-go creatives to seek out inspiration outside the office.

As recent as 2024, long-time remote creative and art director Billy Mangino found himself working in cafe after cafe, struggling with the available technology for portable hard drive use. Getting up from a table to move to another area was a dangerous balancing act, carrying a laptop with a dangling hard drive on a long looping cable while connected to an important working file created such anxiety and an idea was born. 

When he returned home one day, he spent our scouring the internet for the most obvious solution and… nothing. The closest thing that came up was a complex set of cabled and adapters combined into a convoluted solution almost as complicated as the problem itself. 

He knew there was only one way to solve this problem that creative professionals and entrepreneurs are facing every day all over the work, and that was to design it himself. Thus, the first every concept for the Whip Cord was born.
